Tuesday 16 October, 4.30-6.30pm, North Lodge
Zines are self-published works with very small print-runs, often produced using low-tech instruments like type-writers and sometimes cutting, pasting and reworking images from magazines. They can be about anything, from poetry to political movements. Following a private view of the Alternative Press and Little Magazines Pop-Up Exhibition 4:30-5pm, participants will have the opportunity to create their own zines. A selection of materials will be provided to get started, but you may wish to bring your own text and / or images, and to think about a theme. The workshop will be led by experienced zine-maker Siobhan Britton (MA LIS candidate, UCL Department of Information Studies) and Anne Welsh (Department of Information Studies) with the support of Liz Lawes (UCL Libraries) and UCL Library Special Collections. Some of Siobhan’s cartoons, zine entries and other musings: wigglymittens.blogspot.co.uk/
This event is organised in collaboration with The UCL Festival of Reading.
Places at this event are limited to 12. Tickets are £5 and can be booked via OxBoffice by clicking here.
